Senegal Fauna of Gueumbeul Reserve: 4 stamps featuring various birds including Mute Swan (Cygnus olor), Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis), Malachite Kingfisher (Alcedo cristata), possible Black Goshawk (Accipiter melanoleucus), a vulture that looks just like an Andean Condor (Vultur gryphus), a woodpecker feeding upside down on a large fruit which could be Little Green Woodpecker (Campethera maculosa), Black-faced Spoonbill (Platalea minor), probable Pallid Harrier (Circus macrourus), Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus), Pied Avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta) and a hornbill that has a yellow bill, so it could be either Eastern Yellow-billed Hornbill (Tockus flavirostris) or Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill (Tockus leucomelas), neither of which is on the Senegal list nor are the swan and condor. This FDC gives the date.
Update: After scanning the stamps, I noticed that the pink bird just below the tip of the Hornbill's bill is a Roseate Spoonbill (Platalea ajaja)! 		18 December 2013 Tick Delcampe

Sth. Georgia Habitat Restoration: 6 stamps with 2 featuring Yellow-billed Pintail (Anas georgica) and South Georgia Pipit (Anthus antarcticus). More information about Habitat Restoration on South Georgia may be found here, with the opportunity to pay for a hectare or more. Kenya 50th Anniversary of Independence: an issue of 100 stamps - one sheet of 25 has at least 3 stamps with birds which could be Lesser Flamingo (Phoenicopterus minor), Ostrich (Struthio camelus) and African Fish-Eagle (Haliaeetus vocifer). São Tomé e Príncipe Stamperija has listed several new sets on various themes. The issue for Owls has 4 stamps featuring what is listed as African Grass-Owl (Tyto capensis) but is probably not, Verreaux's Eagle-Owl (Bubo lacteus), Sokoke Scops-owl (Otus ireneae) and White-browed Hawk-owl (Ninox superciliaris). The souvenir sheet features Pharaoh Eagle-Owl (Bubo ascalaphus).

Italy The programme for 2013 lists "Uccelli delle Alpi" = "Birds of the Alps". The species to feature in this issue have been listed in Italian as Rock Ptarmigan (Lagopus muta), Eurasian Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus), Grey-faced Woodpecker (Picus canus), Boreal Owl (Aegolius funereus) and Lammergeier (Gypaetus barbatus). Birds has 3 stamps featuring Wilson's Bird-of-paradise (Cicinnurus respublica), Marvelous Spatuletail (Loddigesia mirabilis) and Shoebill (Balaeniceps rex). The souvenir sheet has 5 birds on the stamp, and from those in the border, I guess that these include Bali Myna (Leucopsar rothschildi), Green Bee-eater (Merops orientalis), Little Tern (Sterna albifrons), Iiwi (Vestiaria coccinea) and Gorgeted Puffleg (Eriocnemis isabellae). 30 November 2013 Tick Stamperija

Seashells and Seabirds has 4 stamps featuring Red-billed Tropicbird (Phaethon aethereus), Great White Pelican (Pelecanus onocrotalus), Kelp Goose (Chloephaga hybrida) and Great Frigatebird (Fregata minor). Uganda Stamperija has listed several new sets with various themes all lazily featuring stamps on stamps. World in stamps: Owls has 4 stamps featuring Eurasian Eagle-Owl (Bubo bubo) on stamps from Hungary and France, Brown Wood-Owl (Strix leptogrammica) from Taiwan and Southern White-faced Owl (Ptilopsis granti) from Zimbabwe. The souvenir sheet has an extinct owl (Ornimegalonyx oteroi) from Cuba. In the same series there is World Wildlife which has 4 stamps with one featuring Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia) from Aruba.

Mozambique Stamperija has listed several new sets on various themes. The issue for Birds of Prey has 4 stamps featuring Bonelli's Eagle (Aquila fasciata), Short-toed Eagle (Circaetus gallicus) and two stamps labelled African Hawk-Eagle (Aquila spilogaster), though I think only the second of the two shows this species. The souvenir sheet has Tawny Eagle (Aquila rapax).
Update: Endangered Species has 4 stamps with one claiming to show Bismarck Masked-owl (Tyto aurantia). I could not find any photographs of this "very poorly known" species so I think the wrong species has been selected. The souvenir sheet has the presumed extinct Dodo (Raphus cucullatus)! Another issue has extinct species which include an owl (Sceloglaux albifacies) and the Passenger Pigeon (Ectopistes migratorius). Falkland Is. Airmail Postcard Rate Penguins: 6 stamps featuring Rockhopper Penguin (Eudyptes chrysocome) leucistic, Gentoo Penguin (Pygoscelis papua), Magellanic Penguin (Spheniscus magellanicus), Rockhopper Penguin (Eudyptes chrysocome), King Penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) and Macaroni Penguin (Eudyptes chrysolophus). Ecuador 25 Years of Presence in Antarctica: 3 round stamps with 2 featuring Gentoo Penguin (Pygoscelis papua) and probable Antarctic Giant Petrel (Macronectes giganteus). The latter stamp is labelled "Skua parda (Catharacta lonnbergi)", which is probably South Polar Skua (Stercorarius maccormicki), but the bird looks more like a Giant Petrel than a Skua. Bee-eaters has 4 stamps featuring Swallow-tailed Bee-eater (Merops hirundineus), Northern Carmine Bee-eater (Merops nubicus), Blue-headed Bee-eater (Merops muelleri) and Rosy Bee-eater (Merops malimbicus).
Update: The bird labelled "Merops gularis" is taken from a photograph of a "Blue-headed Bee-eater" taken in Ghana. This species is not listed for Togo. The souvenir sheet has Little Bee-eater (Merops pusillus).
Kingfishers has 4 stamps featuring Pied Kingfisher (Ceryle rudis), African Pygmy-Kingfisher (Ispidina picta), Giant Kingfisher (Megaceryle maximus) and Grey-headed Kingfisher (Halcyon leucocephala). The souvenir sheet has Malachite Kingfisher (Alcedo cristata).

Macao Chinese Calligraphy and Painting - Famous Artists in Macao: a set of 6 stamps and a souvenir sheet. The latter has Eurasian Tree Sparrow (Passer montanus), and there is a bird on one of the other stamps. I shall list this as unidentified unless someone can identify it soon. The species shown are confirmed as Royal Sunangel (Heliangelus regalis), Purple-collared Woodstar (Myrtis fanny), Grey-bellied Comet (Taphrolesbia griseiventris) and Oasis Hummingbird (Rhodopis vesper). Parrots: 8 stamps featuring Blue-and-yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna), Blue-cheeked Parrot (Amazona dufresniana), Scarlet Macaw (Ara macao), Blue-fronted Parrot (Amazona aestiva), Blue-winged Macaw (Primolius maracana), Festive Parrot (Amazona festiva), Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) and Military Macaw (Ara militaris).

Birds of Niger has 4 stamps featuring Blue-breasted Kingfisher (Halcyon malimbica), Golden Nightjar (Caprimulgus eximius), Hamerkop (Scopus umbretta) and Violet Turaco (Musophaga violacea). The bird standing next to the nightjar is a Bar-tailed Lark (Ammomanes cinctura) which is based on this photograph, taken in Kuwait. The nightjar image originates from this photograph, taken in Chad. South Africa Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden - 100 years: sheet with 10 stamps. One features Cape Sugarbird (Promerops cafer), another may have the South African endemic Orange-breasted Sunbird (Nectarinia violacea) and a third has probable Collared Sunbird (Hedydipna collaris), though this species does not occur at Kirstenbosch. Samoa Threatened Species Definitives: 12 stamps with 10 featuring birds which are Common Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus), Tooth-billed Pigeon (Didunculus strigirostris), Samoan Triller (Lalage sharpei), Samoan White-eye (Zosterops samoensis), Polynesian Storm-Petrel (Nesofregetta fuliginosa), Bristle-thighed Curlew (Numenius tahitiensis), Collared Petrel (Pterodroma brevipes), Samoan Flycatcher (Myiagra albiventris), Friendly Ground-Dove (Gallicolumba stairi) and Mao (Gymnomyza samoensis). Parrots has 4 stamps featuring Brown-necked Parrot (Poicephalus robustus), Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri) on 3 stamps and Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus). Neither of the parrots is listed for Niger. The souvenir sheet also has Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus).
Sunbirds has 4 stamps featuring Scarlet-chested Sunbird (Chalcomitra senegalensis), Pygmy Sunbird (Hedydipna platura), Beautiful Sunbird (Cinnyris pulchella) and Copper Sunbird (Cinnyris cupreus), though the birds on the last stamp need checking. The souvenir sheet features Splendid Sunbird (Cinnyris coccinigaster).
Herons has 4 stamps featuring Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) twice and Goliath Heron (Ardea goliath). One stamp has a bird labelled as Rufous-bellied Heron (Ardeola rufiventris). Birds of Prey has 4 stamps featuring Brown Snake-Eagle (Circaetus cinereus), Booted Eagle (Aquila pennata), Tawny Eagle (Aquila rapax) and Lesser Spotted Eagle (Aquila pomarina). The souvenir sheet features an eagle sp. which is incorrectly labelled Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanni)! Central African Rep. Stamperija has listed several new sets with various themes, one of which features the ornithologist A. Wilson. It has 4 stamps with 5 species including European Turtle-Dove (Streptopelia turtur), Snow Bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis), possible Northern Bobwhite (Colinus virginianus), Eskimo Curlew (Numenius borealis) and Passenger Pigeon (Ectopistes migratorius). Malaysia As part of several issues to promote Visit Malaysia 2014, a sheet of Birds has 6 stamps featuring Bornean Bristlehead (Pityriasis gymnocephala), White-fronted Falconet (Microhierax latifrons), though I think the bird looks more like Long-tailed Shrike (Lanius schach), Whitehead's Trogon (Harpactes whiteheadi), Grey-breasted Partridge (Arborophila orientalis campbelli), Mountain Peacock-Pheasant (Polyplectron inopinatum) and Malayan Peacock-Pheasant (Polyplectron malacense). The Bristlehead is the first of this family on stamps.
The Falconet should look like this, whereas the bird on the stamp is similar to this. I have just found that a Google image search for "White-fronted Falconet" produces results which include this image of the shrike taken in the Philippines. The bird on the stamp is obviously taken from this photograph and placed on a different branch!
Update: The misuse of the shrike's photograph has provoked a news item in Malaysia.
Update: All references to this issue have been removed from PosMalaysia's web site, and the Facebook page is no longer available. It seems likely that this issue has been cancelled, which will deprive us of our first Bristlehead.
Update: The Malaysian Nature Society has taken an interest in these events and has offered to "to act in an advisory capacity to all with regards to promoting the celebration, awareness and conservation of Malaysia's unique wildlife and plants".
Update: This issue still appears on the 2013 programme, but its date is to be announced, and perhaps the content will be totally revised.

Syria Birds: 6 stamps featuring European Serin (Serinus serinus), European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris), European Robin (Erithacus rubecula), Yellow-breasted Chat (Icteria virens), Common Nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos) and an unidentifiable bird which is supposed to be Cinereous Bunting (Emberiza cineracea). The bird is too yellow and the bill too feeble for that species. The Nightingale is derived from this photograph. Georgia Visit Georgia: sheet with 12 stamps. The bottom right stamp has a photograph taken from this photograph which clearly shows a few Eurasian Coot (Fulica atra). I can also make out what I believe to be Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) and Northern Shoveler (Anas clypeata). These "dots" are only really identifiable because of the source photograph: Mallard, Shoveler and Coots. ???? 2013 Tick Delcampe
